Course Overview

This course provides employees with required training on workplace chemical hazards under the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard. Participants will learn how hazardous chemicals are identified, labeled, and communicated through Safety Data Sheets (SDS), workplace labeling systems, and the employer’s written Hazard Communication Program.

The training supports safe chemical handling practices and regulatory compliance, including understanding hazard classification under the Globally Harmonized System (GHS).

Criteria for Earning IACET

To receive 0.1 IACET CEU, participants must:

2. Identify physical and health hazards of chemicals in the workplace
3. Interpret chemical container labels and GHS pictograms
4. Locate, read, and use Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
5. Describe employee rights and employer responsibilities under HazCom
6. Recognize methods of exposure prevention (PPE, work practices, controls)
7. Respond appropriately to chemical spills, leaks, or exposures
8. Locate the employer’s written Hazard Communication Program and chemical inventory.

• Any worker who may be exposed to hazardous chemicals during job duties
