Blended CPR Training

A Blended CPR Training course combines the convenience of self-paced online learning with a hands-on skills evaluation. This flexible format allows you to complete the educational portion online and then demonstrate your CPR skills either in person or through a live virtual skills demonstration, depending on the course option selected.

How the Course Works
Part 1 – Online Learning

Complete the self-paced online course from the comfort of your home or office using a computer, tablet, or smartphone. The course features interactive lessons, instructional videos, and knowledge checks designed to prepare you for the hands-on skills evaluation.

Part 2 – Skills Evaluation

Once you have successfully completed the online portion, schedule a 30–45 minute skills evaluation with a qualified instructor. During this session, you will demonstrate CPR skills, including high-quality chest compressions and proper AED use. Skills evaluations may be completed in person or through a live virtual demonstration via webcam, depending on the course requirements and available training options.

Certification

After successfully completing both the online learning and the hands-on skills evaluation, you will receive a 2-year digital certification card. This certification meets applicable workplace CPR training requirements and is accepted by employers that require CPR certification in accordance with OSHA-related workplace standards.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Recognize signs and symptoms of cardiac arrest and other life-threatening medical emergencies.
2. Demonstrate proper adult CPR techniques according to current emergency response guidelines.
3. Operate an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safely and correctly during a simulated emergency.
4. Apply basic first aid procedures for common workplace injuries including bleeding, burns, and choking emergencies.
5. Describe the appropriate steps for activating emergency medical services and coordinating workplace emergency response procedures.

This Adult First Aid CPR and AED Training combines online cognitive learning with instructor-led hands-on skills to issue credentials accepted by OSHA, state regulators, and most employer safety programs. Participants complete online modules covering the chain of survival, responder safety, scene assessment, personal protective equipment, and the recognition and treatment of sudden cardiac arrest, choking, stroke, heart attack, severe bleeding, shock, burns, heat and cold emergencies, poisoning, diabetic emergencies, seizures, and allergic reactions. During the instructor-led skills session, learners practice adult CPR including high-quality chest compressions at 100 to 120 per minute with full recoil, rescue breaths with a barrier device, two-rescuer CPR, and AED pad placement with prompt shock delivery. Additional skills include airway obstruction management with the abdominal thrust, chest thrust, and back-blow techniques for conscious and unconscious victims across age groups. First aid skills include direct pressure for bleeding, tourniquet application under Stop the Bleed principles, splinting, cervical-spine motion restriction, and use of an epinephrine auto-injector. The program aligns with current American Heart Association guidelines and satisfies the first-aid training requirement of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.151 where medical services are not in near proximity.

This training is built for designated workplace first responders, safety committee members, floor wardens, plant nurses, lifeguards, coaches, teachers, childcare workers, and volunteer emergency responders who may be called on to recognize and respond to sudden cardiac arrest, choking, breathing emergencies, and injury emergencies. It also satisfies the first aid and CPR requirements embedded in many OSHA standards including 29 CFR 1910.151, 1926.50, and the process safety management element of 1910.119.

Employers operating construction sites, manufacturing plants, office buildings, warehouses, schools, and healthcare support facilities will find the Adult First Aid CPR/AED course valuable as their documented training path for first responders under the emergency action plan required by OSHA 29 CFR 1910.38. Adult First Aid CPR/AED course is a hybrid training program that combines online portion with a scheduled hands-on skills evaluations may be completed in person or through a live virtual demonstration via webcam.
Course materials also include a printable certificate of completion valid for two years, a digital wallet card for employer and OSHA auditor verification.

Learners should have the physical ability to kneel and perform chest compressions on an adult manikin during the hands-on skills session. Familiarity with their workplace emergency action plan, the location of on-site AEDs, and the internal reporting and EMS activation procedures will accelerate the scene-assessment sections of the program.
No prior certification is required to enroll in the initial course; however, learners must complete all online materials before presenting for the instructor-led skills evaluation. This is provided either in-person, or virtual instructor-led conducted by a certified instructor. A modern browser, a reliable internet connection, a device with audio, and a quiet practice space are the only technical requirements for the online portion.
