Course Details
ILT Scaffold User Training is delivered in person by a qualified instructor in a classroom setting, preparing workers who use supported scaffolds to work safely and recognize the hazards behind scaffolding's high rate of construction citations. Because the course is instructor-led, participants get hands-on, question-and-answer learning and can raise real jobsite situations with the trainer. The curriculum builds hazard recognition around the principal scaffold hazards — falls, falling objects, and electrical contact — and the fall protection measures and personal protective equipment (PPE) that control them. Learners study safe scaffold use, basic scaffold components and their load capacities, and how to inspect a scaffold before use. Instruction also covers safe scaffold access and exit and the correct procedures for working on or around a scaffold. The content aligns with OSHA scaffold requirements under 29 CFR 1926 Subpart L, helping employers meet their duty to train every employee who works on or near a scaffold.
This is a user-level course for scaffold users; it does not qualify a participant as a competent person or authorize erecting, altering, or inspecting scaffolds in that role. Employers should pair it with site-specific instruction on the particular scaffold systems used on the job. Participants who complete the classroom session earn a certificate of completion. Reserve a seat in an upcoming instructor-led session to help your crew recognize scaffold hazards and use scaffolds safely.
Course Syllabus
Course Description
The Scaffold Classroom Training from The Training Institute teaches workers to spot and control real job hazards. Because a live instructor leads every session, your crew can ask questions as they come up. Also, the lessons build on each other in a clear order. As a result, learners finish with knowledge they can use right away.
What Is the Scaffold Classroom Training?
Scaffold User Training is an instructor-led safety course built around 29 CFR 1926 and 1926 Subpart L. The lessons stay short and use plain language. In addition, the course splits into 2 modules, so you can work through it in short sittings. So crews can put the material to work the same day.
Who Should Take the Scaffold Classroom Training?
Workers, supervisors and safety leads whose duties touch this hazard should take it. Also, safety leads often assign it during onboarding or as a yearly refresher. In short, anyone exposed to the risk benefits from the training.
How Long Does It Take?
The course runs about 1 contact hour. Because a live instructor leads it, the whole group finishes together. Then records post once the class wraps up.
What Do You Receive?
Every seat opens the full curriculum and its support material. For example, you get:
- Every lesson in the course
- Progress tracking inside the LMS
- Guided instruction from start to finish
- A course evaluation
Learners who pass earn a printable certificate of completion. However, a certificate documents training only. OSHA does not certify individual workers. So pair this course with the site-specific instruction your own program calls for.
How Does the Course Work?
First, you enroll in the session. Then the group works through the material with a live instructor. Finally, learners close out the course and the record updates in the LMS. Before you start, check one entry note: no prior experience or prerequisites are required. Therefore, your whole crew trains together and finishes on the same day.

What Will I Learn?
In a scaffold User training, you will learn about safe scaffold use, scaffold hazards (like falls, falling objects, and electrical risks), fall protection measures, personal protective equipment (PPE), basic scaffold components and their load capacities, and how to access and exit a scaffold safely. The training focuses on understanding and avoiding risks, implementing safety protocols, and complying with OSHA and other regulations to ensure your safety and the safety of others on the scaffold.
Target Audience
The primary target audience for scaffold user training includes all workers who use, inspect, erect, or dismantle scaffolding in various industries like construction, manufacturing, and oil and gas. This training is essential for anyone who works on, near, or around scaffolding to ensure they can identify hazards, understand safe work procedures, and minimize risks of injury or death while working at height. Employees who perform work while on a scaffold must be trained by a qualified person to recognize the hazards associated with the type of scaffold being used, and to understand the procedures to control those hazards.
Total Course Duration
1 hour
Materials Included
Scaffold user training educates workers on the safe use of temporary structures, covering how to identify hazards, inspect scaffolds, use fall protection, and follow regulations like those from OSHA. The training is a mandatory requirement from OSHA for employers to provide to workers who use scaffolds, ensuring they understand how to prevent injuries from falls, falling objects, electrocution, or scaffold collapse.
Requirements / Instructions
No prior experience or prerequisites are required; this course is designed for workers who use supported scaffolds.
